Branding for Sports Clubs

A brand that holds between the home-game poster and the club house, from the jersey through the annual booklet to the membership card. For sports clubs across Germany.

A sports club rarely sells a product. It carries a membership, a history, a place where generations grew up. For a club registration to become a lifelong bond, you need more than a modern logo: a brand that takes the history seriously and at the same time works clearly on home-game posters, jerseys and the club-house façade.

Where club branding actually wins

A club is found through word-of-mouth referral, family membership and visibility in the town. The jersey on the pitch, the poster in the local bank branch and the yearbook in the letterbox are the most common touchpoints. A strong visual identity makes sure these stations tell the story of the same club instead of each one on its own.

In a world where professional clubs and sponsor identities dominate everything, a distinctive brand for an amateur club is not a luxury, it is a form of dignity. So we do not develop the identity from the last Bundesliga jersey, we develop it from the actual club history. What is in the crest, what does it mean, what can stay, what should renew. We set the frame in a brand workshop with the board and ideally two or three members from different divisions.

What we actually deliver

A typical club project covers the logo design (often a modernisation of the existing crest), the full visual identity, the jersey system for the main division, the club-house sign and façade design, home-game posters, the printed yearbook (with a sponsor page) and a website with training schedules and league-table integration. For merch (scarf, cap, hoodie) we add merch design that stays in the same system as the jersey.

We like to work with clubs that take their history seriously and at the same time want to welcome the next generation. When the club identity is clear, the brand becomes clear.

  1. 01

An identity that carries across generations

A club often has more history than any other brand we work with. We develop identities that take that history in instead of ironing it out for a trend.

  2. 02

    One brand, many divisions

Football, handball, gymnastics, swimming, table tennis. The club brand has to hold all divisions under one roof without each one inventing its own look and feel.

  3. 03

From the jersey to the annual booklet

We think jersey, membership card, club-house sign, home-game poster and yearbook as one coherent system.

  4. 04

    When sponsors enter the picture

Sponsors want visibility, the club wants dignity. We build identities that integrate sponsor logos without the club looking like an advertising board.

Frequently asked

What does branding for a sports club cost?
A complete branding with club crest, visual identity, jersey system and a basic kit (membership card, club-house sign, yearbook, home-game posters, website) typically lands between €3,500 and €9,000. We clarify the exact scope in a first conversation, depending on the number of divisions and the state of any existing club brand.
We have an old club crest. Does it have to go?
In most cases, no. We check whether the crest still carries identity, modernise it carefully and build the new identity around it. What does not carry, we replace, discussed openly with board and members.
How long does the project take from sketch to season opening?
A full brand build for a sports club usually takes 8 to 14 weeks. A pure logo refresh with new jersey and home-game poster is realistic in 4 to 6 weeks. Before the season starts, we plan print and jersey production so everything stands on the first home-game day.
Does Studio Rotstich also handle the jersey design and production?
We design jersey, shorts, socks and tracksuit within the club brand system. For production we work with jersey manufacturers we can exchange print data with directly.
Do you work across Germany?
Yes. Sports clubs in every region of Germany are a normal part of the project landscape, from city clubs to village clubs. Briefings and proofs run entirely remote, on-site visits for season openings or photo shoots on the field are planned separately.
